Leading contact centre, fulfilment and eCommerce provider, Spark eCommerce Group, is creating 140 jobs to meet seasonal demand as it gears up for the busiest time of the year.
The four months of September through to December – the run up to Christmas – are Gateshead based Spark’s peak time for taking and dispatching orders on behalf of its growing portfolio of retail-based clients including Toys R Us, Well Mount, Micro Scooters, Soap and Glory and FitFlop.
So to meet the demand of shoppers, who choose to buy presents online or via catelogues for convenience, Spark is creating the temporary positions, some of which may become permanent.
Edward Duffy, HR Manager at Spark eCommerce Group, said: “Many of our clients experience significant increases in sales in the run up to Christmas which means the demand on our resources increases as well.
This recruitment process is being undertaken in the coming weeks and we’re looking to bring in as many as 140 extra staff to ensure we can meet that demand.
“While the new positions we’re looking to fill are initially temporary, we are a growing company and are always looking to strengthen our team so applicants should see this as the ideal opportunity to impress. If they do that and we see real potential in them, it could lead to something more permanent.”
In addition to the recruitment drive, Spark is also bringing in nine new faces through the Back in the Game employment initiative it supports in conjunction with Sunderland’s Foundation of Light. The programme was launched earlier this year to help unemployed people in Sunderland to get the support, experience and qualifications they need to secure work.
Edward Duffy added: “We’re a big supporter of initiatives like Back in the Game whch are designed to help those who have struggled to find work to get back on the career ladder. Through our involvement we’ve identified nine people we’d like to bring in to support our seasonal activity which is a great way for them to get real hands on experience and of course earn money too.”
