The company, which employs nearly 3,000 people across 11 international markets, is moving ahead with a reorganisation of its UK property portfolio, as it seeks to embed a new hybrid working model beyond the covid-19 pandemic.

D&G’s plans will unlock around £50 million of direct investment for Nottingham. The business has sold its building at 77 Talbot Street for redevelopment into quality student accommodation from 2023. It has also signed a 15 year lease at 11 Station Street enabling this prime central location to be transformed into a new mixed use development.

Once complete D&G’s operations hub on Station Street will be able to host up to 1,000 employees. It will sit at the centre of the company’s reshaped real estate footprint in the UK, which has been heavily influenced by employee experience and feedback during the pandemic.

Nick Ulycz, Chief Operating Officer at D&G, said:

“We want to create a world class operations hub in Nottingham, a city we know very well, and I’m delighted these plans will also unlock some significant new direct investment. We moved quickly last year to transition all our employees into a position where they can successfully work from home, and they have done a brilliant job serving our clients during the crisis. Their feedback from this experience has allowed us to push ahead with a refresh of our property mix, which will form a key component of our new hybrid working model, and it will allow for people to have a truly flexible work environment.”

Lorraine Baggs, Head of Investment at Invest in Nottingham, added:

“This is a hugely positive announcement for Nottingham at a critical time for the UK economy. D&G is one of this city’s longest standing and largest employers. It regularly recruits from our universities and the local area, bringing quality jobs, career opportunities and local growth.”

“We are delighted the company has chosen to establish a flagship piece of its operational infrastructure in the city centre, and Station Street is a prime location. These plans also promise to ease some of the current pressure on housing in central Nottingham through the redevelopment of 77 Talbot Street into quality student accommodation.”
