Maintel, the cloud and managed services company, has been selected as a telecoms partner to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, supporting the internal and external voice communications that are critical to their day to day operational services and positive patient outcomes and experiences.

As one of the UK’s largest, busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts with around 18,500 employees, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people in Sheffield, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield.

The Trust is home to one of three Major Trauma Centres for the Yorkshire and Humber region, along with a number of internationally renowned specialist medical and surgical services including cancer treatment, spinal injuries, neurology, cardiology and stereotactic radiosurgery.

The Trust tendered to find a new partner with the inhouse skills and capability to support their critical voice systems, covering Openscape 4000 and Openscape Voice PABXs.

Maintel was able to demonstrate via the tender that it has the skillset, services and credibility within the NHS to deliver a premium voice support service for Atos Unify that is able to resolve voice incidents and changes within the service levels required by an Acute NHS Trust.

The service covers the voice systems at the main hospital sites: Northern General Hospital, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Weston Park Cancer Hospital and Jessop Wing Maternity Hospital. The contract commenced in December 2022 for an initial 12 month period with the option to extend for a further 12 months.

Tom Boyle, Head of Telecoms, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said:
