Staffordshire Police Recruit Additional Contact Centre Staff

Staffordshire Police has strengthened its force contact centre by recruiting 15 additional staff ahead of the busiest period of the year. The contact centre handles 999 emergency calls, 101 non-emergency calls, and online live chat enquiries, serving as the first point of contact for the public.

Performance has improved significantly, with 88% of 999 calls now answered within 10 seconds and over 900 additional emergency calls handled compared to the previous year. Average waiting times for 101 calls have also reduced to under two minutes for the past six months.

Chief Constable Becky Riggs said the investment will help meet growing demand and improve support for victims, while Commissioner Ben Adams highlighted the importance of fast response times and keeping communities informed throughout investigations.
