Housing Association AmicusHorizon’s contact centre played a part in raising £51 million for Sport Relief on Friday night. Over 100 staff who work for AmicusHorizon volunteered to take donation calls with their phone lines being manned between 6pm and midnight.
Team Leader and organiser, Rebecca Tracy, said: “What a night! I think we can safely say it was a success. After months of preparation and hours of planning, testing and briefing, our volunteers pulled off the biggest ‘giving something back’ project ever seen at AmicusHorizon!”
“We had stories of young children who’d saved their pocket money and wanted to make donations – a truly humbling experience. The whole evening was a huge success and I’m proud to say we helped make a difference for Sport Relief.”
Local businesses got behind the volunteers, donating cakes, food and refreshments to keep them going throughout the evening. Particular thanks go to Cucumber Catering, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Cupcake O’licious and COOK.
The contact centre team also joined in the fun and games, raising over £1000 themselves. They held a mammoth raffle with more than 80 donated prizes and raised money playing games and selling cakes, all in the name of the charity. Highlight of the night was the keenly fought Tug of War contest!
