Sky awards contract to Abtran creating 130 new jobs in Cork

Sky have announced today (Monday 1st February 2016) it has awarded a contract to Outsourcer Abtran who are recruiting 130 new staff to support Sky’s customer service operations. These roles will join the team already in place at Abtran to support the demands of Sky’s growing business in Ireland and the positions are being recruited immediately.

The announcement was made in Cork by Simon Coveney T.D., Minister for Agriculture, Food and The Marine together with JD Buckley, Managing Director and Derek Stalley, Customer Operations Director of Sky Ireland and Michael Fitzgerald, CEO of Abtran.

This investment furthers enhances Sky’s presence and commitment in Ireland. Sky is the leading pay-tv provider in Ireland and is the fastest growing broadband provider in the country. Employing 900 people in its offices in Dublin, Sky offers the best and broadest range of content, and has made significant investment in home grown programming such as the Emmy award winning Moone Boy, 50 ways to kill your Mammy and Penny Dreadful.

Simon Coveney T.D., Minister for Agriculture, Food and The Marine commented,

In July last year, Abtran also announced 100 new jobs in an expansion of its Consulting and Technology Services Division at the IFSC in Dublin. The company employs over 2,000 people in Cork and Dublin.
