Onward Homes have announced the creation of 40 full-time jobs as the Housing Association reveals £500k plans to create a centralised contact centre within its headquarters in Accrington.
The new contact centre will accommodate 50 contact centre agents and will handle full customer service for tenants for the company’s 35,000 properties in the North West.
Alastair Cooper, executive director of operations at Onward, said:
“We wanted to create a single customer contact centre to ensure consistency and quality of service for all our tenants.
“Customer experience is paramount to our future and a single contact centre allows us to adapt quickly, support the development of colleagues and align with our digital services as they evolve.”
“Accrington offers Onward a scalable, future proof operation which is viable for the long term and brings valuable investment to the town.”
Miles Parkinson, leader of Hyndburn council, welcomed the positive news and spoke of wider benefits for the town centre.
He said: “Hyndburn is a place to do business and I’m pleased that Onward have chosen to use this site.
“They are close to the Globe Centre and Onward will be looking for specialist employees. Accrington and Rossendale College will also be able to provide training support.
“It’s all about footfall and spending in the town centre. The mores people living and working in Accrington then the more it thrives.”
Recruitment and training for the agent roles will commence August 2018 with the contact centre operational April 2019.
